Winter Wonderland at National Ice Centre
OBS and Nottingham Arena create Xmas magic at the Capital One Rink
We worked closley with our long term client The National Ice Centre to supply production for their Winter Wonderland skating experience. With no outdoor rink in Nottingham's market square this Christamas, the team at the NIC [which houses the Capital FM Arena and Capital One Community Rink] asked us to design a scheme which would temporarily transform the Capital One Rink and allow them to promote special public skating sessions with a Christmas theme -oh and the rink must still be useable by the multitude of training seesions that the rink houses, including Nottingham Panthers, Ice dance champions, Team GB Speed Skating to name a few!
With a limited budget all parties worked hard to create this fantastic atmosphere, which feature:
- Over 700m2 of custom white draping
- 20 moving heads - including our new Robin 600's
- 30 themed and custom gobos
- 1.5km of festoon and 1500 LED lamps
- Le Maitre Silent Storm Snow machines & fluid
- 8 motors
- 200m of truss
- A 1.2m mirror ball
We programmed a large number of scenes to cover all the themed party nights and promotional events, and dropped it onto the in house Martin Light Jockey system to allow the client to manage playback.
